The Aledo
Volunteer Fire Department covers over 148 square miles of Eastern Parker and Tarrant Counties.
Fifty dedicated volunteers serve Aledo and surrounding communities
with two engines, one tanker, three grass trucks, two command
vehicles and one light/air truck. Two fire stations located North and South of I -
20 insure good coverage of our fire district. A third station is being planned
for the Western part of the district where a lot of growth is occurring.
Currently the department is rated an ISO10 in the county and a 7 in the town of
Aledo.
The department
responds to structure fires with one or two engines carrying 1500 gallons of
water a tanker with 3000 gallons of water and mutual aid from surrounding
communities. Hydrant water, where available, is used for constant water supply.
In rural areas several 3000-gallon tankers from neighboring fire departments
shuttle water needed to fight fires.
Grass fires in the
district receive two, three or four grass trucks and a tanker for fast control.
Depending on the conditions and available volunteers mutual aid can also be
requested from neighboring departments.
